We invite everyone, from kids to great-grandparents and everyone in between, to join us on March 5 at 6:00 pm, as we are reminded that God is God, and we are not.
Ash Wednesday begins the global Church's observance of the 40-day season of Lent, a season of mourning and lament that leads us to Good Friday and, ultimately, Easter. Ash Wednesday focuses on God's words to Adam in Genesis 3:19: "...for you are dust, and to dust you shall return." On Ash Wednesday, we are reminded of our mortality, of our finitude. We are reminded that we are created, that we are not God. On Ash Wednesday, we acknowledge and embrace the reality that we are dust, nothing more, nothing less. On Ash Wednesday, we will step into this somber truth with participants receiving the imposition of an ash cross upon their foreheads as a marker of what we are.
